About the Job:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated ICU / Theatre Nurse to join the Starcare International Hospital team. This role requires clinical excellence in managing critically ill patients and assisting in surgical operations. The ideal candidate should demonstrate precision, empathy, and the ability to respond swiftly in high-pressure situations. You will be a key part of our clinical team, contributing to the hospital’s commitment to advanced patient care and surgical safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Critical Care Nursing (ICU):

  • Provide continuous monitoring and specialized care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit.

  • Administer medications, manage life-support equipment (e.g., ventilators), and respond to emergencies.

  • Collaborate with physicians and other team members to implement care plans.

  • Monitor vital signs, assess symptoms, and ensure accurate documentation of all nursing actions.

Perioperative/Surgical Assistance (Theatre):

  • Prepare the operating theatre and instruments before procedures.

  • Assist surgeons during operations, ensuring strict adherence to sterile techniques.

  • Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery, including anesthesia support and recovery care.

  • Maintain theatre inventory, ensure sterilization protocols, and coordinate with surgical teams.

Professional Standards & Compliance:

  • Follow hospital infection control policies and clinical protocols.

  • Ensure compassionate and culturally sensitive patient care.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate nursing records.

Skills & Experience Required:

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current license from Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

  • Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in ICU, critical care, or operating theatre settings.

  • Proficient in managing ICU equipment, surgical instruments, and emergency procedures.

  • Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and communication skills.

  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and emergencies.

Desirable:

  • Certification in BLS/ACLS (Basic & Advanced Life Support).

  • Post-Basic qualification in Perioperative or Critical Care Nursing.

  • Familiarity with electronic nursing documentation systems.
